ADHD symptoms and underlying causes
Symptoms of this disorder include hyperactivity, impulsivity and attention deficit disorder; it is a chronic condition. “When you break down and understand the science of what’s going on – it changes everything because you finally have pieces that you can put together to give you a bigger picture,” wrote medical expert Lalitaa Suglani in a post of Instagram earlier this year.
He shared the symptoms of ADHD and explained the causes of the symptoms.
To forget
ADHD affects the way the brain works and short-term memory works. This also affects the way we remember things, often causing us to forget recent and distant events.
Time management
Under active dopamine dysregulation, we are unable to divide the time of the actions to be performed. So, we end up spending a lot of time procrastinating and rushing to get the day’s work done.
Delay
Dysfunction in the prefrontal cortex affects executive functions, leading to problems understanding the urgency of the task at hand. So, we continue to push the work away from the delay.
Hyperfocus
It refers to the habit of concentrating and focusing too much on the subject at hand. In ADHD, people face difficulty in changing their mood due to problems in regulating neurotransmitters, especially Dopamine.
A wandering mind
Frequent interruptions that cause the mind to wander from daydreaming are called mind wandering. This occurs due to over-activity in the default network, leading to brain fluctuations and daydreaming.
A feeling of denial
An imbalance in neurotransmitters can increase feelings of rejection, leading to overthinking, anxiety and depression. A heightened emotional response can make it difficult to process emotions in a healthy way.
